All applicants for a membership in the Society must have demonstrated a genuine interest in shoulder and/or elbow surgery.
Members are elected into the Society by its Ordinary Members at its General Assembly, (usually in September) each year upon the proposal of the Membership Committee after approval of the National Delegate .
The National Delegate must receive the application by May 30 of each year. They will be asked to send back the forms with his comments before July 1st.
Members are expected to be up to date with their membership fees.
All members have full access to the SECEC/ESSSE website and receive the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

- becomes associate member after the age of 35, upon request

- physicians (rheumatologists, sports medicine doctors and physiotherapists) board certified or recognized experts (such as biologists, epidemiologists, or engineers) who have contributed to the understanding and the care of the shoulder and elbow

- offered to eminent workers in fields relevant to the aims of the Society
- recommended to the Society by either the Membership Committee or the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee, by unanimous agreement of the voting members in attendance, will then recommend these candidates to the Society for Honorary Membership
